Obituary for Frederick L. Wick

Frederick L. Wick, 87, of 25 Louise Street in Pittsfield returned to our Lord on February 17, 2008 at home surrounded by his wife and daughter and his cat "Calliope". Born on July 31, 1920 in Pittsfield, MA he was the son of the late George and Alma O'Bert Wick. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield. He was employed as a crane operator at General Electric in Pittsfield for eighteen years retiring in 1982. Prior to GE he had worked for many years at the former Wyandotte Mills. Mr. Wick was a lifelong avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed horseracing, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed family outings at Tanglewood and bowling in the many leagues he belonged to before his retirement. He leaves his loving wife of forty-five years, the former Lolita M. Shallies whom he married on November 4, 1962 at the First United Methodist Church of Pittsfield. A son, Wayne L. Wick and his wife Sandy of Dalton and two daughters; Katherine Mickle and her husband Bill of Dalton and Robin Durlack and her husband Bob of Gravette, Arkansas. A stepdaughter; Vesta Keller of Greenfield, MA and a step son; Deane Chickering and his wife Betty of The Villages, FL. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren; William Mickle IV, Deborah Mickle Steen, Melissa Porter, Tony Rufo, Debra Ryan, Paul Keller, Mary Lou Stone, Charles Keller Jr., Laura Chickering and Deane Chickering, thirteen great grandchildren: William Mickle V, McKenna Mickle, Ashley Steen, Matthew Steen, Craig Vosburgh, Sarah Rufo, Mark Rufo, Anthony Rufo, Jennifer Gardner, Daniel McCarthy, Nathan McCarthy, Katy Stone and Emily Stone and three great great grandchildren; Tim, Douglas and Danielle Gardner. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and he was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Frederick L. Wick will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield conducted by the Rev. Wes Ross of Hope Advent Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday prior to the service from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
