Francis A. Gingras (Fran) of Dalton, MA, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 24th with his wife of 69 years at his side.
Born on July 31, 1932 to the late Albert and Irene Gingras of Dalton MA. He attended local schools and graduated from the Old Dalton High School on Field Street in 1949. He served four years in the Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran, discharged in 1955. In 1953 he married Doris Marylyn Smith of Dalton.
He spent the early part of his career at Crane and Co. and Beloit Jones. In 1968, He started R.A. Wilson Electrical Contractors with the late Robert Wilson Sr. and Carl Kunzmann for the next 25 years. In 1994 he began a long and happy retirement.
Fran was an active member of the St. Agnes Community. He was over a 65 year member of the Dalton American Legion and the Dalton VFW. In his retirement he enjoyed time with his family, helping with home projects, traveling, and keeping active.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Loren and Jon (Jack) Gingras.
Survivors include his wife Doris, four children: Jeanne Laiacona (James) of Loudonville NY, Judy Staffa (Edward) of Silver Spring Maryland, Francis Jr. (Cindy) of Pittsfield MA, and David (Julie) of Brookline NH.
Eight Grandchildren: Daniel Laiacona, Jesse Laiacona (Erin), Tony Staffa, Caroline Santos (Marcel), Christin Hocking (Matthew), Michael Gingras, Rowan Gingras, Evie Gingras, and one Great Grandchild: Gabriel Laiacona. In addition, he leaves behind many dear family members from the Gingras and Smith families.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 E. Main St, Dalton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to St. Agnes Parish or St. Agnes Academy in care of the funeral home.
