Obituary for Frances Walsh

Frances L. Walsh, 91, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, February 7, at Craneville Place of
Dalton.

She was born in Pittsfield on August 24, 1926, to Albert J. and Floretta Kirchner Lamore. She was the youngest of three daughters. Frances was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School where she was the Salutatorian of her class. She then went on to graduate from the former Pittsfield Secretarial School.

Frances was first employed as a stenographer at General Electric Company until her marriage on August 26, 1950 to Robert T. Walsh. Later she worked part-time at Besse-Clarke’s office for sixteen years.
She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

For many years she volunteered at the Hillcrest Hospital Gift Shop.

It was her belief that every newborn baby deserved a cozy, new blanket. Franny adored babies and donated hundreds of knitted and crocheted baby blankets to charitable organizations.

She enjoyed traveling, swimming, playing bridge and attending sporting events that her grandchildren participated in. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rocky, who died September 23, 1997.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (and Arthur) Costa of Pittsfield and Jean (and Kevin) Nerrie of Pittsfield; two sons, Thomas (and Patricia) Walsh of Morristown, N.J. and Michael (and Hana) Walsh of Italy; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
