Obituary for Everett L. "Gus" Martin
Everett L. Martin (Gus), 86, of Cheshire died at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Adams on July 19, 1935 and died July 19, 2021.
He graduated from Adams High class of 1953, and from Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1955.
He was a long-time dairy farmer operating ELMARTIN Farm for 54 years and was also an assessor and appraiser up until his death. He was active in the MAAO, holding the office of president until 2006 and received many awards for his work.
He kept active in the Berkshire Farm Bureau, Cheshire Historical Commission Hoosac Hose Company and 4-H. He judged for many fairs including dairy, flowers, fruit, vegetables and grange exhibits. He loved to travel and the outdoors.
He is survived by 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Kim Martin and wife Sandy and son Bryant, Wendy Warner and husband Mark with son Joshua, Melanie Martin and wife Beth Thurber, Shawn Martin and wife Stephanie with Dylan, Madelaine and Jack. He joins his wife Doris (Dodi) in heaven.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held at Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA, on Monday July 26th from 4-7PM. A Celebration of Life will be held outside on Tuesday, July 27th at 10 AM at 443 Windsor Rd, Cheshire, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be to CHD Cancer House of Hope, 1999 Westfield, St. West Springfield, MA 01089
