Obituary for Eva M. Zahn Drake

EVA MAE ZAHN DRAKE, 88, of 120 Kearney Avenue, Pittsfield, died Sunday,
December 2, at the home of her daughter, Beverly, in Bonita Springs, Florida, where she
had resided the past three weeks.
Born in Adams, June 4, 1919, a daughter of Thomas and Violet Maynard
Trombley, she was educated in Adams schools.
Mrs. Drake was a homemaker. For eight years, many years ago, she had worked
at the former Young's Rest Home in Pittsfield.
She was a communicant of St. Charles Church and for twenty years volunteered
at the Pittsfield Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, dancing, and traveling.
Her first husband, Francis J. Zahn, whom she married September 23, 1939, died
August 29, 1982. Her second husband, Carl S. Drake, whom she married April 25, 1987,
died January 15, 1996.
Mrs. Drake is survived by a son, Jeffrey T. Zahn of Pownal, Vermont; seven
daughters, Beverly A. Zahn-Black of Bonita Springs, Florida, with whom she resided in
Florida; Judith M. Klein of Germantown, New York and Naples, Florida; Carol J. Caird
of Lanesborough, Nancy M. Mitchell of Newell, South Dakota, Linda F. Clement of
Copake, New York; Denise K. Kennedy, with whom she resided in Pittsfield;
and Donna M. Zahn of Pittsfield; three brothers, Leo L. Trombley of Hinsdale, George T.
Trombley of Washington, Massachusetts, and Ronald Trombley of Austerlitz, New
York; three sisters, Joan Southard of Washington, Massachusetts, Ruth Ann Rheaume of
Manhattan, Kansas, and Pearl Castori of Ipswich, Massachusetts; 15 grandchildren, 32
great grandchildren, and one great greatgranddaughter. A son, Jacob T. Zahn, died
November 21, 2007.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for EVA M. ZAHN DRAKE, who died Sunday, December 2,
will be Friday, December 7, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy
of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A.
Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be
Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions
in memory of Mrs. Drake may be made to Berkshire County Association for Retarded
Citizens or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires, both in care of the Funeral Home, 54
Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mrs. Drake was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Harry and Bernard Trombley
and sister, Bertha Feetham.
