Eugene John Perego, lovingly known as “Nunu”, 83, of Dalton, MA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 18, 2020 at Craneville Place after a long battle with dementia.
Born in Pittsfield on August 12, 1937, he was the son of Charles and Dalia Balardini Perego.
Eugene served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962, stationed at Phalsbourgh Air Base in France, which was reactivated as part of operation Tack Hammer, the US response to the Berlin crisis.
He worked as a carpenter for many years, building many local buildings. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards. Eugene was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Mr. Perego is survived by his daughter, Carrie Salvatore and her life-partner, Todd Larrivee of Pittsfield; two sisters, Beverly Bassett and Theresa Carroll; and his grandchildren, Jessica and Cassidy Salvatore. He also leaves his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Dino Perego; and a brother Charles.
