Obituary for Eugene P. Jones

EUGENE PAUL JONES, 75, a long-time resident of Hancock Road, Hancock, died Thursday, January 17, at North Adams Regional Hospital. At the time of his death, he was residing at Holy Family Terrace in North Adams.
Born in Granville, New York, April 28, 1932, a son of Fred and Nellie Mae [maiden name, Jones] Jones, he was a graduate of Vermont schools.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Jones was employed by the Williamstown Police Department as a dispatcher
for twenty years, from where he retired in 1997.
From 1976 to 1992, he served as Police Officer and Constable for the Town of
Hancock, and had served as Hancock Town Clerk for many years.
He had also owned and operated a small engine repair shop for many years.
Mr. Jones was a founding member of the Peaceful Valley Par-amp Corp., which
purchased artificial limbs to assist amputees, and was a member of the Peaceful Valley
Boys Band. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.
His wife, the former Ann L. Ryan, whom he married May 16, 1970, at St. Henry's
Church in Averill Park, New York, died March 26, 2000. Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Caleb C.R. Jones of New York, New York; a
daughter, Tara A.R. Jones of Pittsfield; a brother, Donald Jones of Rutland, Vermont; and
four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for EUGENE PAUL JONES, who died Thursday, January 17,
will be Tuesday, January 22, at 1:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev.
Barry Grauman officiating. Burial will be in Hancock Cemetery in the Spring. Calling
hours will be Monday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Jones may be made to Hancock Volunteer Fire
Department, to Village Ambulance Service, or to the charity of one's choice in care of
the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mr. Jones also leaves his four grandchildren, Heather, Shawn, Rachel, and
Rebekah; his former son-in-law, Jeffrey Ferrin, and many nieces and nephews.
