Obituary for Ethel V. Dixon

Ethel V. "Dolly" Dixon, 89, of 55 Jennings Avenue in Dalton died Tuesday at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville, South Carolina. Born on March 6, 1918 in Dalton, MA she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Casella DeAngelus. A lifelong resident of Dalton, she was educated in Dalton schools and had resided on Jennings Avenue for over 40 years. She married her husband, the late Stanley L. Dixon Sr. on April 30, 1938. He died on September 8, 1995. She was employed as a waitress for thirty-six years having worked twenty-three years at the former Stanley Club in Pittsfield and thirteen years at the former Crane Inn of Dalton. She retired when the Stanley Club closed many years ago. She had also worked at one time at Crane & Company in Dalton. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of the Hinsdale Lions Club. She enjoyed working as a waitress and was well known in Dalton for "Dolly's Jennings Ave. Coffee House". She leaves two daughters; Patricia Gutierrez of Springfield, MA and Donna Hatchell of Timmonsville, SC. A son; Stanley "Moe" Dixon Jr. of the State of Washington. She also leaves two brothers; Louis "Gigi" DeAngelus of Rome, Georgia and Charles J. DeAngelus of Dalton. A sister; Mrs. Jenny Baumann of Hinsdale. Eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ethel V. "Dolly" Dixon, 89, of Dalton who died September, 4, 2007 will be held Monday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home. Dolly was predeceased by five brothers and a sister. She was also predeceased by a grandson and a great grandson. Memorial donations in memory of Dolly may be made to the Hinsdale Lions Club in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
