Obituary for Eric Joseph Grandshaw

Eric Joseph Grandshaw, 66, of Pittsfield, passed away July 22, 2021, died at his home after a short illness.

Born in Pittsfield on July 7, 1955, he was the son of the late Harold T. and Lucille A. Granger Grandshaw.

A 1973 graduate of Pittsfield High School, he also attended Berkshire Community College.

Mr. Grandshaw was employed as an electrician for many years, having worked for the City of Pittsfield; Kodak; and Konica-Minolta, where he was a field engineer.

He was a communicant of St. Charles Church, and an active member of the former Notre Dame Church where he volunteered much of his time and talents. Eric was an avid sportsman, enjoyed nature, reading, and cooking. He was recognized by friends and family as a wealth of knowledge, with a prodigious memory. Eric’s family was very important to him and he cared for his mother until her passing, and played an active role in the life of his sisters.

He had a great community of friends. Eric was generous with his time and talents and always willing to help anyone in need. He was just a call away from his local "office" at O’Laughlin's.

He is survived by his sisters, Carleen A. Grandshaw (Raymond F. Conway, MD), of Pittsfield, and Erin Hayes of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by his brother H. Thomas Grandshaw. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Leah Ferro (Ian), Thomas R. Grandshaw (Marilyn), Anita Plouffe (Eric), Brooke Kamienski (Brett), and Alexa Bermudez (Camilo). He also leaves behind his long-time friend Sara.
