Obituary for Emil R. Kittler
Emil Robert Kittler, 94, of Cheshire, MA, passed away January 11, 2023 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Adams, MA on March 18, 1928 to Emil G. and Albertine Bourdeau Kittler, he was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools. Mr. Kittler was a 1946 graduate of Adams High School and attended the General Electric Apprentice course.
He married Eleanor Rolland on May 31, 1948 at Notre Dame Church in Adams, MA.
Mr. Kittler was a tool and die designer at General Electric Company for 42 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, a member of the Elks Club in Adams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, farming and dancing.
Mr. Kittler is survived by his wife, Eleanor Kittler of Pittsfield. Five sons, Wayne Kittler of Rensselaer, NY, Alan Kittler and Karen, of Washington, MA, Stephen Kittler and Iris of Hollywood, FL, Dr. Jason M. Kittler of Pittsfield, and Andrew Kittler and Renee of Brandon, VT. A daughter, Karen M. Drain of Cheshire, MA. He also leaves eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Kevin M. Kittler; Granddaughter, Melissa Abels; Brother, David Kittler; Sister, Joan Wilk; and Son-in-law, Conrad Drain.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. Paul Norman. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will precede the service at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of one’s choice and mailed to Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, PO Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225
