Obituary for Elsie May Zaleski

Elsie May Zaleski, 95 of Cheshire, MA, passed away April 16, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Cabot, Vermont on April 7,1928 to Albert and Gertrude Wheeler Perry, she was 1 of 11 children. She was educated in Cabot, VT and Adams, MA schools. She was a 1946 graduate of Adams High School.
Elsie married Edward J. Zaleski on November 2, 1946, they shared almost 54 happy years together, she built her own home with her husband, he sadly passed in 2000.
She was an aid at Beechwood Rest Home for 30 years until her retirement in 2001.
Mrs. Zaleski was a member of First Baptist Church and Berkshire Union Chapel, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She also was a member of the Council on Aging in Cheshire, where she helped with Brown Bag, Meals on Wheels, she assisted in calling for Bingo, the foot clinic and other various activities to help her community.
Anyone that knew Elsie knew she was caring and would go above and beyond to help anyway she could. She loved the neighborhood kids as her own and they always knew her door was open to them.
Mrs. Zaleski enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, knitting/crocheting, sewing, going for walks, dressing up as a clown and doing clown acts, going to local concert events, faithfully watching wheel of fortune and jeopardy, and watching local parades.
She is survived by her son, David J. Zaleski and wife Annmarie of Florida. Two daughters, Helen M. Dupuis and husband Greg of Pittsfield, and Peggy A. Pierce of Cheshire. Ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Gerald Williams of WA. She was predeceased by her other 9 siblings.
The family would like to send their deepest gratitude to Dr. Wilson and the nurses at Berkshire Medical Center who went above and beyond and gave excellent care in Mrs. Zaleski’s last days.
Burial will be at Cheshire Cemetery, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10AM, there be an after service at the Cheshire Senior Center located at 119 School St in Cheshire until noon.
