Obituary for Elizabeth R. White

Mrs. Elizabeth R. White, 82, formerly of 103 Summer St. in Adams died Saturday at Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown where she resided since November of 2007. Born on June 23, 1925 in Cromwell, CT she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Anna Fillmore Pelkey. She had resided in Adams and Middlefield for many years. She was educated in Middlefield schools and attended Chester High School. She married her husband, the late Joseph J. White on July 7, 1943 in Hinsdale, MA. He died in 1977. A homemaker, she had worked at one time at the former Hunter Outdoor Products in North Adams in the 1960's and at various mills throughout the area. She retired in the 1970's. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts and raising her large family. An avid fisherman, she also enjoyed the outdoors. She leaves five daughters; Irene Daniels of Adams, Joann Kelton of Huntington, MA, Linda Sampson of Becket and Terry Benson and Sandie Stone both of Pittsfield. She also leaves eight sons; Joseph White of Middlefield, A. William White of Livingston, TX, Leon White of Cold Spring, TX, James White of Windsor, Thomas and John White of Adams, Tony White of Lee and David White of Adams. She leaves a sister; Agnes Manning of Vermont and over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Elizabeth R. White, 82, who died March 29, 2008 will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield conducted by the Rev. William Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesboro. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sweetbrook Care Center Activities Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
