Obituary for Elizabeth A. Sheltry Mrs.

Mrs. Elizabeth A. Sheltry, 82, of 29 Church Street in Pittsfield died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on August 22, 1926 in Pittsfield, MA she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Pellsier Mara. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A homemaker, she had worked at one time at General Electric in Pittsfield in the late 1940's. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church where she was also a member of the Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed working with plants and doing crafts. She leaves her husband, Milton R. Sheltry of Pittsfield whom she married on August 24, 1946 at the former Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield. Two daughters; Elizabeth A. Tatarek and her husband Michael of Whitinsville, MA and Mary G. Sayers of Pittsfield. Four sons; Philip E. Sheltry of Sheffield, MA, Milton R. Sheltry Jr. of Lawrence, Kansas, Brian A. Sheltry and his wife Dani of Lawrence, Kansas and Francis J. Sheltry of Pittsfield. She also leaves three sisters; Natalie Mara and Margaret McDowell of Pittsfield and Nanette Vuillemot of Ft. Worth, TX, a brother, Charles Mara of Schodack, NY. She also leaves her six beloved grandchildren; Jessica and Rachel Tatarek, Jason Lack, Ashley Sheltry, Jennifer Wroblewski and Brian A. Sheltry Jr. She was predeceased by a son, the late Jackie Sheltry and by a brother, the late John Mara.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Elizabeth A. Sheltry of Pittsfield who died April 10, 2009 will be Thursday at 8:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will take place later in the spring in Hancock Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
