Obituary for Elizabeth J. Magoon

ELIZABETH J. MAGOON, 75, a resident of BerkshireTown Apartments since
1995, a longtime resident of Pittsfield, who had also resided in Lanesborough, died
Sunday, December 9, at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, October 13, 1932, the daughter of James W.
and Elizabeth W. Brown Colpitts, she was educated in Methuen schools from where she
graduated high school in 1950, and was a graduate of hairdressing school in Boston.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Magoon had at one time been employed by the
Massachusetts Department of Employment Security in Pittsfield, and had also worked at the former Steiger's department store and at Sears.
Mrs. Magoon was a former member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesborough. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Norman D. Magoon, whom she married February 17, 1957, in Methuen, died December 22, 1973. Mrs. Magoon is survived by a son, Robert G. Magoon of Hinsdale; two daughters,
Carol A. Phelps of Lanesborough, and Beth E. Norton of Pittsfield; and three grand-
children.

FUNERAL NOTICE: ELIZABETH J. MAGOON who died Sunday, December 9, also leaves her
daughter-in-law, Susan Magoon and sons-in-law, Jeffrey Norton and Bruce Murdock.
"Gingy" will be greatly missed by her three grandchildren, Amy Murdock of Cheshire,
Collin Murdock of Lanesborough, and Tyler Norton of Pittsfield. She will also be
sadly missed by her good friend, Kay.
At. Mrs. Magoon's request, there will be no services or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Magoon may be made to the Tyler Norton Trust Fund to be established for her grandson in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
