Obituary for Elizabeth A. Croughwell

ELIZABETH JANE CROUGHWELL, 88, formerly of 177 Depot Street and later of 293 High Street, Dalton, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Hillcrest Commons where she had resided since April 2008. Born in North Adams, October 25, 1920, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth M.
Grace Lloyd, she was educated in North Adams schools.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Croughwell had worked as an assembler at
General Electric Company for five years during the late 1930s. She was later employed as a nurses aide for Berkshire Medical Center for seven years, and had worked at the former Berkshire Hills Shop for five years.
She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of many prayer
groups throughout Berkshire County.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the world.
Her husband, Edward J. Croughwell, Sr., whom she married June 20, 1942 in
St. Mary the Morning Star Church in Pittsfield, died October 6, 1989.
Mrs. Croughwell is survived by three sons, John "Jack" W. Croughwell and his
wife, Judy, of Goodyear, Arizona, Dennis T. Croughwell and his wife, Chris, of Dalton,
and Brian M. Croughwell of Goodyear, Arizona; a daughter, Ruth E. Mason of Pittsfield;
twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Evie
Croughwell of Eustis, Florida, and a cousin, Jane Howell of Massachusetts.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Edward J. Croughwell, late of Eustis, Florida, who died May 15, 1987; a brother and a sister.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for ELIZABETH JANE CROUGHWELL, who died Thursday, March 5, will be held on Friday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Croughwell may be made to Dalton Ambulance and Rescue, St. Agnes School, or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires, all in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
