Obituary for Elizabeth F. Corio

Elizabeth F. Corio, 100, of McAlpin, Florida, formerly of Lanesborough, died
Saturday, November 24, 2012. at her home.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 20, 1912, the daughter of John D. and
Anna Grace Gwin Frey, she was a graduate of New York and Texas schools. She came
to Pittsfield in 1944. Mrs. Corio was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools as a secretary, retiring
in 1975 with twenty years service. Prior to coming to The Berkshires, she had worked
for several insurance companies in New York.
She had been a communicant of North American Martyrs Church.
Mrs. Corio was a member of the Lanesborough Senior Center. She was also a
member of the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Union, and a member of
A.A.R.P. Her husband, George Corio, whom she married January 10, 1948, died June 2,
2002. Mrs. Corio is survived by three sons, Donald L. Shaw and his wife, Mona, of
Bristow, Virginia, Peter L. Shaw and his wife, Crystal, of McAlpin, Florida, and David
A. Corio and his wife, Virginia, of Port Allegany, Pennsylvania; a brother, Morton Neil
Frey of Carson City, Nevada; eleven grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren;
as well as her special daughter-in-law, Ellen Adams of Lanesborough, and nieces and
nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Elizabeth F. Corio will be private with burial to be in
Pittsfield Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, contributions in
memory of Mrs. Corio may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 W. U.S. Highway, Lake
City, FL 32055. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of local arrangements.
