Obituary for Elizabeth Lind Castiglione

Elizabeth Lind Castiglione, also known as Betsy, age 71, formerly of Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her son's home, in Manchester, New Hampshire, after a long battle with Huntington's Disease. She was born in Mitchell Field, New York on January 13, 1944, the daughter of the late Lt. Colonel James A. Beplat and Lucy R. Simonson Beplat of New York City. She was educated in Germany, Atlanta, Georgia, and Dalton schools and received her Master's Degree in Teaching.
Elizabeth had been employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools as a grammar school teacher, teaching at Plunkett and Conte Community Schools. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher's Association; she loved old homes and Cape Cod. She traveled extensively and was able to see a lot of the world.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter: Jeanne L. Nicoll and her husband Kevin R of Pittsfield; her son: John R. Haskell, Jr. and his wife Tina M of Manchester, New Hampshire, with whom she had lived for the past three years; her grandson: Mitchell N. Haskell and his daughter Anna of Pittsfield; her granddaughter: Victoria L. Nicoll of New Bedford, MA; her step-grandson: Steven R. Consoli and his wife Kimberly A. and their daughter Olivia R. of Pelham, New Hampshire; her two sisters: Jean (Beplat) Mazeau of Florida and Dorothy (Beplat) White and her former husband, Richard (Bird) of Arizona; her brother: James H. Beplat of North Adams; and her former husband: John R. Castiglione of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by her former husband John R Haskell, Sr.

Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be SUNDAY December 20, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a brief service immediately following at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Huntington's Society of America in care of the funeral home.
