Obituary for Eleanor M Squires (Monterosso)
Eleanor M. Monterosso Squires, 88, a resident of Mt. Carmel Care Center, passed away after a long illness on December 3, 2018.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Sidney and Lydia Siipola Reed.
A 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School, she then married the late Benjamin Monterosso, who predeceased her on April 21, 1973.
She worked for many years as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, swimming and spending time with her childhood and beloved friend Priscilla Sargent at Stockbridge Bowl.
She leaves behind her daughter, Linda G. Maloy and her husband William T. of Worcester, MA; her brother Sidney H.M. Reed, Jr.; her granddaughter Sandra Monterosso Provenzano and her husband John; two grandsons, Benjamin Maloy and wife Coarine and William P. Maloy and wife Justine; seven great-grandchildren, Shelsey Lynn and Jaime Provenzano and Ethan, Dana, Sonja, Ana and Flynn Maloy. She was predeceased by her son Richard J. Monterosso on August 2016.
Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Mount Carmel Care Center and the staff at Hospice of Western and Central Mass for their loving, skillful and compassionate care.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. Squires will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Residents Activities Fund at Mount Carmel, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201
