Obituary for Eleanor F. D'Elia
ELEANOR F. D'ELIA, 92, formerly of 126 South Street, Cheshire,died Sunday at the home of her son, John E. D'Elia in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, with whom she had resided these past four months.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, September 24, 1914, a daughter of John
and Mary Nixon Heath, she was a graduate of Medford High School and continued
her education graduating from the Katherine Gibbs Finishing School in Boston.
Mrs. D'Elia was a homemaker. For five years prior to her marriage, she had
worked as a secretary with the Employers Association LTD in Boston. She later
returned to the workforce and was employed in the Accounting Department at Brodie
Mountain ski resort for ten years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire and
a member of the Cheshire Reading Club. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Her husband, Ralph Frederick D'Elia, Sr., whom she married June 29, 1941,
died November 8, 2001. Besides her son, John, Mrs. D'Elia is also survived by a son, Ralph F. D'Elia, Jr., of Pittsfield, two sisters, Madeline Cullen and Hazel Clark, both of Medford, Massachusetts; four grandchildren and three grandchildren. Another son, Robert D'Elia, died in 1975.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for ELEANOR F. HEATH D'ELIA, who died Sunday,
September 24, will be Thursday, September 28, at 10:00 a.m., from the DERY-
CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at
St. Mary of the Assumption Church, with Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. D'Elia may be made to HospiceCare in
The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire. Mrs. D'Elia is lovingly survived by her four grandchildren, Ralph F. D'Elia, III., Kellie Ann Laskin, Timothy Peter D'Elia, and James John D'Elia.
