Obituary for Edward M. Kennedy

Edward M. Kennedy, 84, of 90 Edward Avenue passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Hillcrest Commons of Pittsfield. Born on April 12, 1932 in Peterswell, County Galway, Ireland, he was the son of the late John and Mary Hansberry Kennedy. He was educated in Ireland schools and graduated in 1950 from Peterswell High School. He came to America in 1957 and has resided in Pittsfield ever since then. Ed was employed as a paper cutter for thirty-four years at the former Eaton Paper Company and later in the finishing room at Crane & Company where he worked for seven years. He retired in 1994. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Irish American Club. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, walking and spending time with his grandson. He was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He leaves his wife; Shirley Bushey Kennedy of Pittsfield whom he married on April 25, 1964 at St. Charles Church. A daughter; Maureen A. Hassan and her husband Jack of Pittsfield. He also leaves his grandson; Connor A. Hassan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Eugene, Martin and John and by his sister; Catherine.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Edward M. Kennedy, 84, who passed away November 25, 2016, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Ed may be made to Sacred Heart Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
