Obituary for Edward George Hubbel

Edward George Hubbel, 73, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away November 3, 2022 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Pittsfield on January 19, 1949, son of the late George C. and Ruth B. Brooks Hubbel.

Mr. Hubbel attended Pittsfield High School. He married the former Constance “Connie” Bevins on May 12, 1990. She predeceased him on March 19, 2011.

He enlisted with the United States Marines in 1968 and served during the Vietnam War. He completed a year overseas as a Lance Corporal and received many medals including: the Vietnam Service Medal with one star; the Combat Action Ribbon; the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device; and the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Hubbel was a long-haul driver for many years. He drove for Trans Star and Bar None as a truckdriver and also had previously been employed at Berkshire County ARC.

Edward was an avid wood worker.

He is survived by his Son, Douglas E. Hubbel (Shannon) of West Warren, MA, Daughter, Tricia M. Hillebrand (Glen) of Pittsfield, MA. Sisters, Kathy Pisani of Pittsfield, MA, Karen Dimanche (James) of Rock Hill, SC, Susan Winters-Bigelow (Blaine) of Norwich, CT, and Lynn Whittaker (Michael) of Pittsfield, MA. Step-son, Jamieson Bevins (Rebecca) of Cheshire, MA. Grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Hillebrand of Pittsfield, Emily and Brianna Hubbel of West Warren, MA, and Ryo Bevins of Cheshire. As well as several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Sammie.

He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Butch Pisani.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11 am at St. Joseph Cemetery in the St. Anne de Beaupre section. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Solider On or to Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center Residents Activities Fund in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
