Obituary for Edward Eugene Fenner

Edward Eugene Fenner, 98, formerly of Pittsfield and Richmond, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Springside of Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on June 19, 1917, the son of Carl and Margaret Dupre Fenner, he was
educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Fenner enlisted with the United States Army on October 27, 1942. He was assigned to the Army Air Force where, as a sheet metal worker, he was an airplane mechanic. He served a tour of duty in Italy from December 1943 to July 1945, and was
honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant on December 28, 1945.
In 1946, Mr. Fenner went to work for General Electric Company where he was an
inspector. He retired in 1978.
He was a member of South Congregational Church in Pittsfield.
He enjoyed camping, traveling, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Mr. Fenner's wife, the former Phyllis P. Moore, whom he married March 21, 1941, at
South Congregational Church, died August 19, 2012.
Mr. Fenner is survived by a son: Allen E. Fenner and his wife, Patricia, of Lee; a daughter:
Cheryl M. Clark, of Richmond; two grandchildren: Christine Galeucia and her husband, Devin, of Hinsdale, and Brian Fenner and his companion, Maria Hopkins of Lee; two great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Teaghan; and two nieces.
He was pre-deceased by his two brothers: Carl Fenner, Jr. and William Fenner; his sister:
Barbara Cullen; and his son-in-law: Albert G. Clark, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Edward E. Fenner will be private with burial to be in Village Cemetery in West Stockbridge in the Spring. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
