Edward "Skip" F. Barnes, 79, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away August 9, 2022 at Springside Nursing Home.
Born in Pittsfield on April 10, 1943, he was the son of Walter and Rita Gero Barnes. Mr. Barnes married the former Rosemary Talis on June 10, 1967. She predeceased him in 2002.
He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. Skip was employed by General Electric for 32 years, having worked as an assembler and in Ordnance.
He was a member of the Dalton American Legion and the Dalton VFW, as well as the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 65. He loved to ride his motorcycle with his friends.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his daughter, Tina Barnes of Pittsfield. Son, Ricky Barnes and Melissa Groat of Windsor. Daughter, Tanya MacKay of Pittsfield, Grandchildren, Tasha Darmin of Cheshire, Mariah Groat of Windsor, and Kaden MacKay of Pittsfield. As well as his sister Marie A. Barnes of Pittsfield. He was also predeceased by his beloved dog Clyde.
Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be held, Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 3 to 6 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. Funeral services will be Monday, August 15, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, celebrated by Rev. Charles Young. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of Western and Central Mass; St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; or to, Shriner’s Hospital for Children; all in care of the funeral home.
