Obituary for Edith V. Fischer Mrs.

Mrs. Edith Viola Fischer, 94, of 41 Newell Street, Pittsfield died Christmas Day, December 25, 2009 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Born on January 31, 1915 in Rouses Point, New York a daughter of Peter and Edith V. Columbe Rouette. She attended schools in Pittsfield. . Mrs. Fischer was a homemaker and prior to her marriage she worked for Sammy Vincent as a press operator. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing cards and Polka music and bingo and enjoyed the simple things in life like embroidering and sitting on her front porch. She was the wife of Carl F. Fischer whom she married Aug. 29, 1937 in Pittsfield; he died May 9, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Gail M. Shaw of Pittsfield. 7 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren and One great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son Wayne C. Fischer of this year and by two brothers James and Alex Rouette.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church in care of the funeral home.
