Obituary for Earlene E. Battis

EARLENE ELIZABETH BATTIS, 86, of Pittsfield, formerly of North Adams,
died Saturday, February 28, at the home of her daughter, Sandra DeAbreu, of 39 Plumb
Street, Pittsfield, with whom she had resided the past six years.
Born in Readsboro, Vermont, November 19, 1922, a daughter of George A. and
Elizabeth Tatro Davis, she was educated in Searsburg, Vermont, schools.
Mrs. Battis was a homemaker and loving mother.
She enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. Mrs. Battis is survived by a son, Richard Susee of Rochester, New York; eight
daughters, Joan Kleiner of Hudson, Florida, Elaine Peters of Eagle Bridge, New York,
Audrey Geggatt of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, Joyce Hiscock of Salem, Alabama,
Shirley Thomas of North Adams, Sandra DeAbreu of Pittsfield, with whom she resided,
Gale Briggs of North Adams, and Deborah Odell of Savoy; twenty eight grandchildren
and several great and great great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by two sons, Walter Susse and Robert Battis, both late of
North Adams; a sister, Viola Marcotte late of North Adams, and a brother, George Davis,
late of Woodford, Vermont; and by her former husband, Robert E. Battis, who died in
1987.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for EARLENE ELIZABETH BATTIS, who died Saturday,
February 28, will be private, with burial to be in Clarksburg Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Battis may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
