Obituary for Douglas Scott Smead

Douglas Scott Smead, 63, of 153 Stoddard Avenue, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016,
at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born January 27, 1953, in Schenectady, New York, the son of Clifford and Colleen
Peterson Smead, he was a graduate of local schools.
A construction worker by trade, Mr. Smead had been employed in the construction
industry for eleven years, the last six years of which with the Massachusetts Department of
Transportation constructing and repairing bridges throughout the state. Previously, he had
worked six years for Crane & Company in its Government Mill.
Mr. Smead was a good family man and had a love for animals. He was a history buff
who also enjoyed reading and fishing.
Mr. Smead leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Leary, whom he married March 15,
1975, and their son, Jeremy P. Smead, of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
There are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of DERY FUNERAL
HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
