Obituary for Douglas S. "Doug" Pearson

Douglas S. Pearson (“Doug”), 68, of Pittsfield, passed away on March 24, 2021, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Utica, NY on March 30, 1952, he was the son of the late Richard and Gladys Young Pearson. He graduated from Utica Free Academy and attended SUNY Cobleskill.

Upon his arrival in the Berkshires, in 1982, he worked in the local food service industry, as manager at several area restaurants including Family Affair, Burger King, and Friendly’s and as a salesperson for U.S. Foods before his retirement. In recent years, Doug was actively involved with the Lions Club of Pittsfield and he could be found at many of their fundraisers and community activities.

Doug enjoyed his journey with the love of his life, his wife, the late Yvonne Peltier Pearson, whom he married on September 17, 1983. They enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally, cooking for and entertaining family and friends, and the New York Yankees.

Doug had a tremendous personality and an exceptional sense of humor. He was truly one-of-a-kind. In addition to family and friends, Doug was passionate about many things including playing guitar, indoor gardening, and food. He was a great cook and baker and took pride in creating many wonderful meals and desserts for his family and friends throughout the years.

Doug is survived by his stepson, Tom Conklin, and his wife, Marianne; his stepson, Scott Conklin, and his wife, Elizabeth; his grandchildren Alison, Alex, Zach, Sumner, and Liam; his sister, Nancy Rae, and her husband, William; his niece, Jen, and, his nephews, Jeremy, and Jeffrey, as well as his countless number of friends in the Pittsfield area.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held, SATURDAY, April 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery in the Pine Grove Section on Onota St. Calling hours will be held FRIDAY, April 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lions Club or Alcoholics Anonymous or in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
