Obituary for Dorothy V. Sprigg

DOROTHY VICTORIA SPRIGG, 87, of Devonshire Estates in Lenox, died
Friday, March 13, at her home. Prior to coming to The Berkshires in June 2006, she had
lived most of her life in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Born in Martin's Creek, Pennsylvania, on April 20, 1921, the daughter of Albert
and Mary Dollak Karabinus, she attended Centerfield School in Martin's Creek, Penn-
sylvania and was a graduate of Easton High School in Easton, Pennsylvania. She con-
tinued her education and graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a
bachelor's degree in business.
A veteran of World War II, she served as a WAVE with the United States Navy
from 1942 to 1951 and earned the rank of Lieutenant.
Mrs. Sprigg was employed as an Administrative Secretary at Lafayette College in
Easton, Pennsylvania for twenty-five years retiring in 1996.
She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and the American Association of
University Women.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles. Her husband, Rodney S. Sprigg, whom she married January 20, 1951, died
October 31, 1954. He was a Navy pilot during both World War II and the Korean War.
Mrs. Sprigg is survived by two daughters, Ann Sprigg Morris and her husband,
Dan, of Rogers, Arkansas, and June Sprigg Tooley of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, Erin
Sprigg Morris. She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Sean Anthony Morris.

FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no services or calling hours for DOROTHY V. SPRIGG. Burial will be
in Martin's Creek, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs.
Sprigg may be made to Hospice Care in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL
HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
