Obituary for Dorothy K. Siok

Dorothy K. Siok, 87, of Pittsfield, passed away, Friday, May 22, 2014, following a long illness.
Dorothy was born in Pittsfield on September 14, 1926, daughter of Felix P and Mary Ann Potash. She attended local schools. She worked at the Wyndotte Mill, and the Pittsfield's Veterans' Administration before she retired from the City of Pittsfield as the Clerk of Liquor License Board. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church and their Mothers' Guild before joining St. Joseph's when Holy Family closed. She was a bowler, golfer and just loved to have a good time. Dorothy was very active with the Pearl Harbor Attack Veteran's as her husband Paul and companion Chet were both Pearl Harbor Attack Veterans.
Dorothy wintered at her home in Palmetto, Florida for over 20 years and enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and friends golfing, cooking and entertaining at happy hour. She was a great cook and will be remembered by family of her specialties. In the summer Dorothy entertained family and friends at her backyard pool and deck. She loved listening to the Polish Program on Sunday mornings and had songs played for all family members and friends for their birthdays and anniversaries.
Dorothy's companion for 18 years was Chester Stoklosa who passed away in 2011. Chet accompanied Dorothy to Florida each winter also enjoying dancing, golfing and entertaining.
Dorothy leaves two daughters, Geraldine (Geri) McGinnis Porter of Pittsfield, and Anne (Nancy) Kozlowski and her husband Walter of Dalton. She has six grandsons, Kyle Kozlowski, Brennan and wife Lora Kozlowski, of Pittsfield, and Kollin and wife Amy Kozlowski of Dalton. Shaun McGinnis and wife Lori of Bellows Falls, VT, Christopher McGinnis of Astoria, NY and Scott McGinnis of Pittsfield. She also leaves 10 great grandchildren: Aleah, Karissa, Kelton, Josh, Dayton and Shay Kozlowski and Ranger, Draven, Gracie and Lola McGinnis. Dorothy enjoyed her grandsons and then their families over these past 47 years with babysitting, camping, and swimming at her pool. If ever you were in need of help she was there.
Dorothy was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Fitch, Josephine Decker, Frank, Joseph and Stephen Potash.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Dorothy K. Siok will be held WEDNESDAY, May 28, 2014 at 9:30 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Church, celebrated by Rev. Mnsgr. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive realtives and friendsWEDNESDAY morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations expressions of sympathy may be made in Dorothy's name through the funeral home to the Eagle Santa Toy Fund, The Berkshire County Jimmy Fund or HospiceCare of the Berkshires.
