Obituary for Dorothy A. Janes

Mrs. Dorothy Alice Janes, 87 of 140 Melbourne Road, Melbourne Place, Pittsfield, Ma. died Saturday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on June 11, 1919 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Henry O. and Leone M. Potter Goddeau. She attended schools in Pittsfield. Mrs. Janes was employed as a telephone operator first for St. Luke's Hospital and later for Berkshire Medical Center for 26 years retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and now a communicant of Saint Joseph's Church. She enjoyed reading, music, singing and traveling. She was the wife of Thomas B. Janes whom she married June 9, 1936 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield; he died July 30, 2001. She leaves two daughters, Jacquelyn L. Weatherwax of Pittsfield, Ma. and Mary Jo Romero of Castro Valley, California. A Brother, James "Tex" Goddeau of Pittsfield and a sister Geraldine Nimmons of Pittsfield. Four Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Granddaughter. She was predeceased by her son, Tommy Janes on August 3, 2004.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Dorothy A. Goddeau Janes, who died March 24, 2007, will be held Wednesday at 8:15 A.M. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph's Church, celebrated by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's disease and Related Disorders in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Janes is lovingly survived by her four grandchildren, Kent Weatherwax, Beth Bolus, Jane Anglin and Nicolas Romero, also by her beloved six great grandchildren, Jacquelyn Powers, Shaunna Brogan, Anthony Brogan, Mary Anglin, Sean Anglin and Dylan Carmel. A great great granddaughter, Madelyn Powers. Also survived by devoted son in law, Willie Romero. She was predeceased by brothers, John and Donald Goddeau, sisters, Helen Britigan, Jean Weatherwax, Theresa Goddeau and by a son in law, John Weatherwax.
