Obituary for Dorothy A. Eddy

Pittsfield: Mrs. Dorothy A. "Dee" Eddy, 67, of 10 Dogwood Lane in Pittsfield died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on April 10, 1942 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late Miles F. and Dorothy Dowd Stanton. A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She married her husband, the late James E. Eddy Sr. on April 20, 1963. He died on May 9, 1997. Mrs. Eddy was employed as a secretary at General Electric and then its predecessor, Martin Marietta for over thirty years. She retired in November of 1997. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioner's Clubs. She enjoyed knitting, the outdoors and vacationing at Hampton Beach with her family and friends. An avid sports fan, she followed the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the New York Giants. She was also very devoted to St. Jude. She leaves two sons; James E. Eddy Jr. and his wife Karen of Pittsfield and Kenneth M. Eddy and his wife Bette-Anne of Pittsfield. A daughter; Susan J. Jansen and her husband David of Pittsfield and a sister, Mary Jean Yon and her husband Dennis of Slingerlands, NY. She also leaves her five grandchildren; Kimberly and David Jansen and Mallory, Mark and Taylor Eddy. She was predeceased by a brother, the late Miles Stanton.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Dorothy A. Eddy, 67, of Pittsfield who died May 22, 2009 will be Thursday at 8:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Eddy may be made to the St. Jude Shrine in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
