Obituary for Doreen A. Pero

Doreen Ann Pero, 83, passed away February 26, 2016 at the Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Gertrude H. LaChance Pero and the niece of Wallace Pero whom she shared her home in his final years.
A lifelong resident of Dalton, she was a graduate of Dalton High School. Her secretarial skills were put to use at the Dalton Community Recreational Association where she was employed for many years. Most recently she was the part-time bookkeeper at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9566 of Dalton.
An accomplished knitter, she shared her creations with family and friends. In her younger years she was an avid bowler, and also created many ceramic pieces that she again shared with others. She enjoyed participating in the Dalton Follies and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and former member of the choir.
She leaves her cousins; Ronald Pero of Dalton, Donna Twining of Pittsfield and Valerie Cummings, Mary Holladay and Dorothy Davis all of Ontario, Canada. In addition she leaves her dear friends; Sylvia Nye and Sylvia's companion Dennis Crosier. She was most appreciative of her next door neighbors Mike and Donna Lavigne and their children, whom she thought of as family. Her little dog Buster was her source of joy and comfort.

FUNERAL NOTICE – A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doreen A. Pero, 83, who died February 26th, will be Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 10:00a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doreen's memory can be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
