Obituary for Donna M. O'Boyle
Donna M. O'Boyle, 83, of Pittsfield passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, 8/6/2014 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.
Donna was born to Donald D and Isabelle (Bouchard) McBride in North Adams Mass on April 16, 1931. A graduate of Pittsfield High School, she married her sweetheart, John ("Johnny") J. O'Boyle, and started her family in 1952, eventually giving birth to three children.
Donna Was pre-deceased by her first infant child, Kathleen, and later, in 1966 by her first husband, John J. O'Boyle.
After the death of Johnny, Donna continued with strength and determination to raise and nurture her two sons. She worked 26 years as a clerk/scheduler for New England Telephone and Telegraph and it's successor Baby Bell companies, retiring in 1986 from what is now Verizon. She also worked at times for other employers in part-time marketing positions. She enjoyed playing cards and supporting volunteer organizations including the Berkshire Humane Society.
After Johnny's death, Donna also later re-married twice – to Chet Kopala; and to Donald White (now deceased).
Donna is survived by her two sons David O'Boyle of Pittsfield, and Michael O'Boyle and his wife Jean (Delsignor) of Goffstown, NH. She is also survived by three siblings: her sister Sandra (McBride) Olds and her husband Walter "Bernie" Olds of Pittsfield; brother Peter McBride and his wife Jeanne (Sabato) McBride of Pittsfield; and brother Joseph McBride and his wife Maureen (Lally) McBride of Becket.
Donna also leaves eight O'Boyle grandchildren: John, Jeremy, James and his wife Amy (Croteau) O'Boyle, and Kathleen, Patrick, Michelle, Nicole, and Christopher O'Boyle. Donna was also proud to have had three great grandchildren – Alexander, Zachary, and Laila O'Boyle.
The Dery Funeral Home on Bradford Street, Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements. There will be no formal wake or public calling hours. A memorial service will be held for family members and friends of Donna at the Dery Funeral home at 11:00 AM on Monday August 18, 2014, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetary in Pittsfield. A reception will follow at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers friends may choose to make a donation in honor of Donna to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association through the Dery Funeral Home
