Obituary for Donald R. Putnam

DONALD ROBERT PUTNAM, 80, a longtime resident of 32 Glassworks Road, Berkshire, who also wintered in Florida for many years, died Sunday, January 11, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams, July 31, 1928, a son of Amos and Agnes Todd Dick Putnam, he was educated in Clarksburg and North Adams schools and was a 1946 graduate of Drury High School.
A Korean War veteran, he served as a Corporal with the United States Army
from December 1, 1950 to November 29, 1951.
Mr. Putnam was employed by General Electric Company as a foreman in the
Glass Bushings Department from where he retired in 1989 with 33 years service.
He was a member of the Berkshire Union Chapel.
Mr. Putnam was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century, Pensioners,
and Foreman's Clubs, as well the American Legion Post 446 in Lanesboro.
He was an accomplished soloist. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's
sporting events, and also enjoyed yard work.
Mr. Putnam leaves his wife, the former Hannah Best Bondini, whom he married
February 27, 1987, in the former North American Martyrs Church. Besides his wife, he leaves four stepsons, Dominic Bondini and his companion,
Joanne Heaton, of Pittsfield; David Bondini of Berkshire, Peter Bondini and his wife,
Karen, of Pittsfield, and Patrick Bondini of Berkshire; a stepdaughter, Kathy A. Larson
and her husband Steven, of Lanesborough; a daughter, Debbie Kelson and her husband,
William of Washington, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren, Timothy Larson, Johanna
Larson, Michael Larson, Kyle and Cassie Kelson, Nicholas Bondini, Matthew Bondini,
Jessie Bondini, and Jamie Bondini; a great grandson, Michael John Bondini; a brother,
Herbert H. Putnam and his wife, Donna, of North Adams and Florida; a sister, Carolyn
Chilson of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, James Putnam and Amos Putnam, Jr.; a
sister, Esther Chilson; and a brother-in-law, Stanley Chilson.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A gathering for the family and friends of DONALD ROBERT PUTNAM, who
died Sunday, January 11, will be held on Friday, January 16, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., in
the Parish Hall of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. A memorial service
will be held in the Spring at the Berkshire Union Chapel at a date and time to be
announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Putnam may be made
to Salvation Army or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL
HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
