Obituary for Donald M. Munger

Donald Merle Munger, 89, of 1000 North Street Pittsfield, died April 6, 2017 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility where he resided for the past two years. Born in Pittsfield, the son of John Munger Sr. and the former Hazel Fish, he attended Pittsfield schools.
Don served his country in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seaman 2nd class. Don was a threader at the former A. H. Rice Company for forty-seven years before retirement. He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Church.
His greatest joys were attending family functions. It was at these functions that he was able to hear about his family's lives, see their smiling faces and most importantly get all those hugs, which made his day.
Don also loved music and going to concerts with his daughter Sheila. He listened to the radio every day and enjoyed singing along to all the songs. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan. Even though it mean the world to him Don once gave his favorite Red Sox jacket to a man that lived in his building because he did not own a jacket and could not afford one. Don was a special person.
Don's family will truly miss his strength and love of life.
Don is survived by his daughters; Sheila Lepotakis and her husband Neil of Pittsfield, MA and Laurie Munger of Pittsfield, MA his sons; David Munger and his wife Cherie of Lee, MA and Donald Munger of Becket, MA, his brother; Raymond Munger of Pittsfield, six grandchildren; Stephen Lepotakis and Christopher Lepotakis both of Pittsfield, MA, Aaron Munger and his wife Celina of New York, Chelsy Stewart of Texas, Rebecca White of Florida, Thomas Sidway of Pittsfield, MA, two great-grandchildren; Mia Munger and Adam Munger of New York.
