Obituary for Donald L. Loveless

DONALD LOUIS LOVELESS, 93, of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, February 3, at Craneville Place of Dalton, where he had resided since August 2009.
Born in Pittsfield, May 27, 1916, the son of Charles D. and Louise Hogue Loveless, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A World War II veteran, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps on February 24, 1942, and served in the Central and Southwest Pacific areas from March 1943 to October 1944. He participated in the New Georgia, Treasury Bougainville, and Bismarck Archipelago Campaigns, as well as in the defense of Piva Yoke, and in the Consolidation of the Northern Solomon Islands for which he earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He was discharged on September 22, 1945.
Mr. Loveless was the owner-operator of Don's Esso Station of North Street and
Don's Exxon Station on South Street for thirty five years retiring when he closed the
business in February 1976.
He was a communicant of St. Mark Church and a member of Wahconah Country Club.
He was a Boston Red Sox fan who also enjoyed golfing and working in his yard.
Mr. Loveless leaves his wife, the former Bernice Viale, whom he married January
3, 1948, in the former Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Holly L. Mykulak and her husband, George, of Medfield, Massachusetts; two sons, D. Mark Loveless and his wife, Kathy, of Medway, Massachusetts, and J. Kim Loveless and his wife, Gina Linton, of
Pittsfield; and four grandchildren, D. Zachary Mykulak and J. Lucas Mykulak, Holly K.
Loveless, and Jennifer K. Loveless.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for DONALD LOUIS LOVELESS, who died Wednesday,
February 3, will be private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Pittsfield
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Loveless may be made to Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, both in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. The family is grateful to all at Craneville Place and Hospice Services of Western
Massachusetts for the skill and dedication and love they provided during this difficult
time.
