Obituary for Donald Kwasniowski

Donald Kwasniowski, 89, of Pittsfield, a former longtime resident of Cheshire, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Adams on November 4, 1924, the son of John and Agnes Sowa Kwasniowski, and was educated in Adams schools.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Kwasniowski was inducted into the United States Army on April
29, 1943. He served as a Staff Sergeant with Company C 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and saw a one-year tour of duty overseas in The Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on
January 3, 1946.
Mr. Kwasniowski was employed as a bartender at the former Green Acres Fireside Restaurant in
Cheshire for more than twenty years.
He had been a member of the Cheshire Baptist Church.
Mr. Kwasniowski was a member of the Elks Lodge 1335 in Adams and had served as an
Exalted Ruler.
In earlier years, he coached Little League and Farm League baseball.
Mr. Kwasniowski's wife, the former Gloria M. "Dolly" Bona, whom he married on Labor Day 1948, died August 24, 2012.
He is survived by a son, John V. Kwasniowski and his wife, Charlita, and their daughters, Danielle
and Kara, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and another son, Paul D. Kwasniowski.
Mr. Kwasniowski, who had resided at Hillcrest Commons for the past four years, also leaves the staff and fellow residents whom he loved as family.
He was pre-deceased by thirteen brothers and sisters.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Donald Kwasniowski will be held Friday, March 28, at 11:00 a.m., at the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. William D. Furey officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Kwasniowski may be made to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
