Obituary for Dominick A. Lovallo

Dominick Angelo Lovallo, 88, of a former longtime resident of Lanesborough
and of 913 North State Road, Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Port Chester, New York, on November 11, 1924, the son of Nicholas and
Antoinette Capazzo Lovallo, he was a graduate of Rye (New York) High School. Continuing his education, he graduated from Pratt Institute of Technology in Brooklyn, New York, with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering.
He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Mr. Lovallo was employed by General Electric Company and General Dynamics in Pittsfield where he was an electrical engineer. He retired in March 1989 with 42 years service.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire where
he served on a number of Church committees including Finance and Parish Council.
Active in community affairs, as well, Mr. Lovallo was a member of the Lanes-borough/Mount Greylock High School Committee, Chairman of the Board of the
Lanesborough Police Commission, President of the Lanesborough Lions Club, and
President of the Lanesborough Seniors.
He served as President of the Pittsfield GE Pensioners Club was a member of
the GE Quarter Century Club.
In service to the community, Mr. Lovallo was also president of the Pittsfield Toastmasters Club, President of Berkshire County AARP and a member of the AARP Speakers Bureau, Chairman of Greylock Federal Credit Union's Quality Time Club, and participated in several other organizations, as well.
Mr. Lovallo was pre-deceased by his first wife, Marie Stone Lovallo, who died
in 1989, and by his second wife, Grace Aslan Lovallo, who died in 2010.
He is survived by five children, Marie Lovallo Panar and her husband, Leonard,
of New York City, Dominick Lovallo, Jr., Denver, Colorado, Carol Lovallo of
Melbourne, Fla., Paul Lovallo of Dubai United Arab Emirates, and Peter Lovallo and
his wife, Patricia, of Cheshire; as well as five grandchildren and five great grand-
children.
Another son, Mark Lovallo, died in 1972.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Dominick Angelo Lovallo will be held Friday, September 6,
with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in PITTSFIELD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or to
the American Cancer Society both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford
Street, Pittsfield.
