Obituary for Dolores Jean Penna
Dolores Jean Penna passed away at her home in Pittsfield, surrounded by her loving family on February 9, 2023.
Dolores was born on February 26, 1936, in Pittsfield, MA, the daughter of the late John E. and Sadie Sakowski Barosso, and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1954.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband, John R. Penna, whom she married on August 27, 1955. John passed away on August 26, 2014, one day shy of their 59th wedding anniversary.
Dolores was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, although, in retirement, spent winters in Florida with her husband. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church and later St. Joseph Church. Dolores was happiest spending time with her family, neighbors and friends and never missed a Boston Red Sox game.
Dolores is survived by her sons, John R. Penna and wife Joan of Cheshire, Richard A. Penna and wife Lynn of Pittsfield, and daughter Jean P. Fitzpatrick and husband John of Sterling, Virginia. Eight grandchildren, Amy, Nicholas, John, Kate, Leighanne, Sean, Anna and Melissa. Six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Abby, Arianna, Ben, Maddi and Luca.
Dolores will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, February 24, 2023 at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Jimmy Fund in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201
