Obituary for Dolores A. Dondi

DOLORES A. DONDI, 86, a former long-time resident of Lenox, died Tuesday,
March 24, at Hillcrest Commons where she had resided since December 2007. She had
also resided in Pittsfield and in Springfield, and had resided in Italy, as well.
Born in Pittsfield, April 21, 1922, a daughter of Didimo and Rose Vanotti Dondi,
she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School and Vice President of her class. She
graduated from Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a degree in Business
Administration.
For a number of years, Ms. Dondi worked for the Plastics Division of the General
Electric Company.
In 1952 joined the Jules Klein Advertising Agency in Pittsfield. The agency
moved to Springfield in 1960 at which time she was made a Vice President with the
Company. While living in Springfield, she was elected chairman of the Women's
Division of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
In 1976, she moved back to Pittsfield to work in the Pittsfield District Office of
Congressman Silvio O. Conte. She later returned to the advertising and public relations
field, serving as the Vice President of the Graphic Arts Center in Pittsfield and later held
the same position with the M.J. O'Malley Company of West Springfield.
Fulfilling a life-long dream, in 1986 she took a year's sabbatical and moved to
Italy. Using Como, Italy, as her base, she traveled extensively in that country where she
holds a dual citizenship.
In 1987, she returned to the United States and continued working in part-time
positions with the Krofta Company and the Lenox Library until her retirement.
Ms. Dondi was listed in "Who's Who in Advertising" and in the "Foremost
Women in Communications".
She was a communicant of St. Ann Church in Lenox.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of Lennox Heights and served as its
Vice President for a number of years.
She enjoyed traveling and golfing.
Miss Dondi is survived by 15 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and
nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Henry J. Dondi, and two sisters, Rena
(Dondi) Rohrkemper and Irma (Dondi) Harrington.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for DOLORES A. DONDI, who died Tuesday, March 24, will be
Saturday, March 28, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of
Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Ann Church in Lenox, celebrated by Rev. Christopher
J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be
Friday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
memory of Ms. Dondi may be made to the Lenox Library, Berkshire Humane Society, or
HospiceCare in The Berkshires, all in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street,
Pittsfield.
