Obituary for Dianne H. Haber

DIANNE H. HABER, 65, of Stonehouse Road, Hinsdale, died Tuesday,
February 10, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Morris
Haber and Bertha Fisher Haber Greene, she was educated in Mount Vernon, New York,
schools and was a 1961graduate of A.B. Davis High School there. She received a BA in
mathematics from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts in 1965, her MA in
mathematics from Hunter College in New York City in 1966, and did her doctoral work
in mathematics at Northeastern University in Boston.
Ms. Haber was a professor of mathematics at Westfield State College for
twenty three years. She also taught part time at Berkshire Community College and
at the Berkshire County House of Correction when it was still on Second Street.
She was a longtime member of the Mathematics Association of America, the
Berkshire Stonewall Coalition, the Hinsdale Gardening Club, Wild Women's Sports,
and was a founding member of the Women's Services Center (now the Elizabeth
Freeman Center).
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and taking long walks in the woods with
her dogs, identifying wildflowers, and playing tennis.
Ms. Haber leaves her sister, Elaine Haber Greenberg of South Fallsberg, New
York, two nephews, Henry and Andrew Greenberg, two great nieces and three great
nephews, as well as her dog, Rubix Cube, bird Virginia, and two fish.


FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for DIANNE H. HABER, who died Tuesday, February 10,
2008, will be today, Thursday, February 12, at 2:00 p.m., at Riverside Cemetery in
Saddle Brook, New Jersey, with Rabbi Abraham Ziegelman, officiating. There are no
calling hours. The omission of flowers is requested. Contributions in memory of Ms.
Haber may be made to the charity of one's choice. The DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL
HOME is in charge of arrangements.
