Obituary for Dennis M. Moynihan

Dennis M. Moynihan, 68, of 19 Anita Drive passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on September 9, 1948 in Pittsfield, he was the son of Rita Ryan Moynihan of Pittsfield and the late James C. Moynihan. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1967 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the former North Adams State College. Dennis was employed for over forty years as a senior buyer at the former Beloit Corporation and at GL & V of Lenoxdale. He retired in December 2012. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, he was a member of the Lenox Sportsman's Club and Berkshire Hills Country Club. An avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting and golfing. He also raised Beagles which he trained to hunt. He had also coached youth soccer and basketball for many years and was a longtime fan of the Yankees, Giants and Celtics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, and grandchildren. He leaves his mother; Rita Ryan Moynihan of Pittsfield, his wife; Judith Roux Moynihan of Pittsfield whom he married on July 1, 1972 at St. Ann Church in Lenox. Three daughters; Kellie T. Harrigan and her husband Emmett of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer A. Pearson and her husband Jeremiah of Falmouth, MA and Erin M. Conkling and her husband Peter of Smithfield, RI. A son; Bryan L. Moynihan of Laconia, NH. Two brothers; Robert F. Moynihan and his wife Eileen of Dalton and Gary J. Moynihan and Amy Boyington of Lenox, MA. His sister; Barbara A. Williams and her husband Kurt of Winsted, CT, his brother-in-law; Louis Roux and his wife Nancy of Pittsfield and his mother-in-law; Ellen Roux of Lenox. He also leaves five grandchildren; Brenden Harrigan, Sawyer Pearson, Noah Pearson, Phoebe Pearson and James Conkling and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his sister; the late Kathleen M. Amos.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Dennis M. Moynihan of Pittsfield who passed away September 21, 2016 will be held Monday at 9:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations in memory of Dennis may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
