Obituary for Delores Hebert (Bernardo)

On December 8, 2020 Delores Bernardo Hebert, known fondly as “Auntie Do” by her loving family, passed on at Hillcrest Commons after a short battle with the Covid virus.

Delores was born May 3, 1932 to Laurentina Borges Bernardo and Benjamin Bernardo. She attended Pittsfield Public Schools graduating from the Secretarial Course at Pittsfield High School in 1950. In September 1954 she married Louis J. Hebert, he died in August of 1998. Delores was also predeceased by her parents and a sister Eva Lennon.

She was an avid reader, an active member of the Book Club at the Froio Senior Center. Her apartment had shelves full of many extraordinary books collected over the years.

Delores was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and more recently of St. Joseph’s Church.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Beth Hebert, sisters Elaine (Robert) Lee of Pittsfield and Jean (Richard) Barry of Merrimack, NH. Also surviving are nieces Jacqueline Loehr, Maria Barry, Heather Wiggins, Sharon Barry and Jennifer Brandon, as well nephews Timothy Lee and Matthew Lennon.

Funeral Services for our “Auntie Do” will be postponed due to the Covid-19 and scheduled at the convenience of her expanded family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Western Mass in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01021.
