Obituary for Dayton F. Tynan

Dayton F. Tynan,74, of 200 Melbourne Rd. died Saturday February 24, 2007 at Springside of Pittsfield. Born in Caldwell, New Jersey, May 30, 1932, he was the son of the late Dayton and Amy Decker Tynan. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1950 , Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH in 1956, and attended Fuller Theological Seminary for a year in Pasadena, Ca. He received a masters degree in music in 1963 from Westminster Choir College of Ryder University in Princeton, NJ. He was a choir director at the Lewiston First Presbyterian Church for 7 years in Lewiston, NJ was the organist and choir director at the First Congregational Church in Dalton for 15 years beginning in 1974 and for many years was a private music teacher. He was member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton, a member of the American Guild Organists and received a Service Master Certificate and Choir Master's degree from the American Organ Guild. He leaves his wife the former Sonia A. Forrest whom he married Dec.30, 1976. He also leaves three sons Scott Pickard of Pittsfield, MA, Doug Pickard of Hinsdale, MA and Jonahan Pickard of Dalton, MA. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Notice: Dayton will be lovingly missed by his daughters-in-law Amanda, Dawn, Rebecca and former daughter-in-law Madeline and a cousin Connie Davidson. A Memorial Service for Dayton F. Tynan,74, who died Saturday February 24, 2007 will be held Wednesday February 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Dalton, with the Rev. Robert Kyte, pastor, officiating. A reception will follow the memorial service in the church hall. There will be no calling hours and the burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Guardian Hospice C/O Springside of Pittsfield 255 Lebanon Ave. Pittsfield, Ma 01201
