Obituary for David M. Kittler

David M. Kittler, 74, of 121 Depot Street in Cheshire died Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on June 17, 1940 in Adams, he was a son of the late Emil and Albertine Bourdeau Kittler. A lifelong Cheshire resident, he was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools and was a 1958 graduate of the former Adams High School. He married his wife, the late Elizabeth Rand Kittler on February 2, 1961. She died on August 3, 1993. Mr. Kittler was a lifelong farmer in Cheshire and had worked as a saw filer at the former J.W. Kelly Lumber in Pittsfield for over twenty-five years. He had also worked at the former Gowdy-Shandoff for ten years as an office assembler and at Bob's Camper in Hancock. He retired in 2010. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and served the Town of Cheshire as a member of the Planning Board and Zoning Board. He enjoyed antiques, flea markets, reading and watching Jeopardy. Dave was also well versed in Greek mythology, opera and Cheshire history. He was extremely proud of his family. He leaves his longtime companion and fiancée, Eileen F. Moore of Cheshire. Eight daughters; Sandra I. Martin and her husband Donald of South Bend, Indiana, Marian L. Rennell and her husband Bryan of Florida, MA, Carol A. Raymond and her husband Thomas of Cheshire, Virginia M. Danielsen and her husband Scott of New Lebanon, NY, Catherine M. Martel and her husband James of Adams, Sarah M. Sanford and her husband William of Stephentown, NY, Elizabeth M. Gwara and her husband Richard of Dalton and Judith C. Zmijak and her husband Henry of Lancaster, MA. A son; John E. Garlin and his wife Donna of Stamford, VT. He also leaves a brother; Emil R. Kittler and his wife Eleanor of Cheshire and a sister; Joan Wilk and her husband Stanley of Cheshire. Seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great grandson; Ian Lemaire.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for David M. Kittler, 74, of Cheshire who died May 30, 2015 will be held Friday at 10:15 AM from the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
