Obituary for David A. Cross

David Alfred Cross, 70, of 122 Strong Avenue, Pittsfield, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at
his home.
Born in Grafton, Mass., on December 15, 1943, the son of Lewis D. and Grace Boyns Cross, he
was a 1961 graduate of Grafton High School.
Mr. Cross enlisted with the United States Army on July 1, 1964, served two years over-seas, and was honorably discharged, having attained the rank of SP5 (T), on June 14, 1967.
Mr. Cross was last employed by Berkshire Housing Services [in Pittsfield] where he was a maintenance man for fourteen years. He retired in 2014 due to ill health. Prior to that, Mr. Cross had been a manager with Friendly Ice Cream in Brattleboro, Vermont, and in Ohio, for twenty one years. He had also operated Alfred's Handyman Service.
He was a Red Sox and Patriots fan, who also enjoyed golf, race cars, and traveling.
Mr. Cross leaves his wife, Ellen L. Goodrich, whom he married May 3, 1998.
He is also survived by a son, Keith D. Cross and his wife, Hannah, of Worcester; a stepson,
Brian Terenzini of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Claudia Austin of Worcester; two grandchildren,
Nigel and Harper Cross; as well as three sisters, Carol Gattozzi and her husband, James, of Westport,
Mass., Janice Barrett of Hubbardston, Mass., and Shirley Mosiejczuk of Hudson; two sisters-in-law,
Marjorie Broda and her husband, Michael, of Southampton, and Susan Phillips and her husband, Daniel of Las Vegas, Nev., and many nieces and nephews.




FUNERAL NOTICE:
A memorial service for David Alfred Cross will be held Thursday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m., at
DERY FUNERAL HOME in PITTSFIELD with Rev. Henry Peirce officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday,
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to Fisher House both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
