Obituary for David E. Carlson

David Everett Carlson, 80 of 539 Elm St. (formerly of 16 Leroi Dr.) Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center on September 1, 2022. Born in Worcester, MA on April 21, 1942, David was the son of Einar and Evelyn (Messier) Carlson.

He was a graduate of Worcester Boy’s Trade School. David was an administrator at Springside Nursing Home and the former Dalton Nursing Home. He was also an EMT and volunteer firefighter in West Brookfield. David most recently worked for the City of Pittsfield’s Parks and Recreation. David was also a licensed pilot and a certified engine repairman of which he was very proud of.

David married the former Sandra Philips on October 12, 2005. His family will remember him as a man’s man. He was the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying a new one. He valued hard work, honesty, and the value of a man’s word. To his children, he was loving but fair. He made sure to instill his values on them. He was a member of Dalton United Methodist Church and a Mason since 1968.

David is survived by his wife, Sandra Carlson of Pittsfield. His son, Donald Carlson (Maria Pierpan Wadsworth), Daughters, Sondra Bonaquisti and Darlene Ross of Pittsfield and Donna Jean Carlson of Lanesboro MA, his brother, Warren Carlson (Patricia) of Buzzards Bay, MA, seven grandchildren, Seth and Gianna Bonacquisti, Jayde, Jacob, and Joshua Carlson, Codey Ross and Marissa Hatch (Philip Morine) Richmond, MA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Beverly Carlson (Bell).

Graveside services will be held in the Fall, at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers his family asks that you check the air in your tires, the belts and all the spark plug wires — just as he would have. Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield has been entrusted with his arrangements.
