Obituary for David F. Brown

David Francis "Dave" Brown, age 56, of Grove Street, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield on August 14, 1959, the son of the late Raymond F. and Virginia Gai Brown, Sr. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1977.
Dave worked as a social worker for the Salvation Army for 7 years until 2006. He had also worked for the Berkshire Community Action Council for over twenty years as a social worker and assistant to the director. He created "The Giving Tree' program for Berkshire County. He was an accomplished author of two published books. Dave was an easy-going guy who loved his family and was a Star Trek fan.
Dave is survived by his son and daughter with whom he lived: David F. Brown, Jr. and Christina E. Brown; his grand-daughter: Tabatha T. Brown of Pittsfield; his three sisters: Arleta (and Jerry) Fredrickson of South Royalton, VT, Wendy Hoosick of Pittsfield, and Valerie (and Leon) Mongue of Pittsfield; his five brothers: Joseph (and Kellie) Brown of Pittsfield, Louis (and Pamela) Brown of Lanesboro, Allan (and Nancy) Brown of Pittsfield, Paul Brown of Fort Myers, FL, and Mark Brown of Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews; his Aunt Rita Maguire and her family of Oswego, NY; and his brother-in-law: Al Frambach of Dalton. He was pre-deceased by his brother Raymond Brown, Jr. in 2011.

FUNERAL NOTICE Funeral services will be THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield with Pittsfield Salvation Army Captain Elliott Higgins, officiating. Calling hours will be THURSDAY from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home
