Obituary for Darren Richard Desautels
Darren Richard Desautels, 36, of Pittsfield, passed away December 18, 2021 after losing his battle to alcoholism at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born on December 25, 1984 to Richard and Pamela Solak Desautels.
Darren was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of Taconic High School in 2003. He married the former Amanda DiMassimo on November 22, 2014.
He had been employed by Big Y in the meat and seafood departments for many years. Most recently he was also a stay-at-home dad.
He enjoyed hiking outdoors with his family and Duke, metal detecting with his son and father, wheeling his Jeep in the woods with his wife and friends, vacationing in Hampton Beach every summer with his family, riding and fixing dirt bikes with his son, and taking bike rides to the playground with his family.
Darren is survived by his wife, Amanda Desautels of Pittsfield; their children, Hunter and Hadley Desautels of Pittsfield; his mother and father, Pam and Rick Desautels of Pittsfield; a sister, Brittany Desautels and her fiancé, Austin of Pittsfield, his mother and father in-law, Karen and Joseph DiMassimo of Dalton; as well as his beloved German shepherd, Duke, whom went everywhere with Darren. He was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Lucien and Barbara Solak; and Gilbert and Juliette Desautels.
