Obituary for Daniel J. Gillis II

Pittsfield – Daniel J. Gillis II, 36, of 43 Taylor Street passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. Born on November 2, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Karen Williams Gillis and the late Daniel J. Gillis. He was educated in Salt Lake City and Pittsfield public schools. At the time of his passing, Danny was employed as a construction laborer. He had also worked for LTI Smart Glass. He was an avid follower of sports and especially enjoyed football and going to the gym. He was also a big history buff and an avid reader. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and his companion’s children. He leaves his mother, Karen Williams Gillis and her companion Louis Bologna of Pittsfield. His son; Avery Mackie and his daughter; Natalia Gillis, both of Pittsfield. Two brothers, Fabian K. Gillis and Justin D. Gillis, also of Pittsfield, and his paternal grandmother, Mary Girouard of Ludlow. He also leaves his companion, Jacquelyn Sykes and her children, Makenzi and Madison. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Daniel J. Gillis II will be held Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Memorial donations in memory of Danny may be made to the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA to help his family with funeral expenses.
